2015 is our 2nd bottling of Cab Franc. The wine is beautiful deep garnet in color & electric in its personality. Bursting from the glass with aromas of dried cranberries, Bing cherries, graphite, roses, and that petrichor minerality we love from this block. Full-to-medium bodied this Cab Franc’s tannic structure and bright acidity makes for a great food-wine with decades of longevity.
H.W. Crabb was a pioneer American wine cultivator in the 1880s and originally farmed our and neighboring vineyards. Crabb prided himself most on the wine made from his own grape variety, Crabb’s Black Burgundy, which was esteemed as the best burgundy of the entire west. We are designating our Cabernet Franc vineyard (Block 5) and assigning it a fanciful name: “Crabb’s Black Burgundy”
